All about me…The first few times I have tried to write this, I start with how many kids I have, what my husband does…But is that really me?  I suppose it is about me, but it isn’t describing who I am as an individual.

I like to think of myself as being a little bit crafty.

I love to read and often read books a little bit too fast to fully digest everything that is in the books, meaning I might miss a few parts, and that really stinks.  I love history.

Right now, and actually for quite a few years, I have been very interested in the American Civil War.  I find it fascinating that people were that engaged, or were so passionate about a cause that they went to war within their boundaries.

For now, I am trying to find a place in this world to call home.  What I mean is that I have tried to fit myself into places I don’t think I necessarily fit.  Maybe I will fit in those places later, but for right now, I am going to try and work on my rugs.  I think designing them and hooking and/or punching them is like finishing a 1000 piece puzzle.  I am a student in this process.  I learn as I go.  And I learn by teaching myself.

I have taught myself how to use natural dyes on yarn as well.  I hope to get better at it as time goes by, but for now, I am content in teaching myself the art of natural dyeing.  I find the chemistry behind natural dyeing fascinating.  I wish that I could take organic chemistry and learn more about the process.  I can always dream.

Does this all define me?  Who knows, and in the end, who really cares.  This is me.

  1. Hello,
Have you had any luck with false indigo? I have a bagful of seed pods, but cannot find instructions anywhere. Am thinking that I wouldn’t use a mordant. Any thoughts?
    🙂
